About Dean’s Hike

Dean started the PCT at Campo, California on April 16, 2015.  It took him almost 5 months, finishing in Canada on September 12, 2015.

Did you know?!

  • More people have reached the summit of Everest (over 4000) than have completed the PCT (about 2600)?

    1. This was shared with me by my dear friend Pamela Jones (Ursenbach) after I shared a hiking story with her. Absolutely Incredible!! Reading about your journey and seeing the beautiful pictures gave me goose bumps and brought tears to my eyes. My 10 year old daughter reminds me during our hard hikes, “mom just be thankful we are healthy enough to do this”.
God Bless and safe travels on your journey through this amazing land!!

      1. Thank you so much for your comment. You can tell you daughter that many of the toughest people I met on the trail were young girls, so I expect to be reading her blog soon.

  1. Yeah, Dean0, a journey of two thousand (plus) miles must begin with a single step. Yours is coming up. Adios, amigo; I think I subscribed and how that means I will get reports as you post them. Happy t rails. Rod

  2. Dean we met you along Lake hughes Elizabeth lakes area. the ones who pulled up and asked if you had a web page . Nice job my friend

    1. Had I known it was okay to offer a ride. I would have taken you in my cat to the 138. Since I met you I started picking up trekkers and taking them a few miles. Met a sweet girl the other day. Don’t remember her trail name.

  3. Dean,
You are looking well. I worked with you in the GLOBE Program early days. Take care.

    Hi Dean,

I am your mother’s cousin in Canada. I envy your doing this hike. I also love hiking the mountain trails and have been on several peaks this month at age 84.

We live most of the time in Waterton Lakes National Park (the Canadian side of Glacier Park MT). If you had taken the mid continent trail starting in New Mexico – you would have ended in Waterton. I met such a hiker here a year ago.

    Happy trails!
